  • 2023-11-14

From 14 to 17 November, the European Green Capital 2023 will host its flagship event – NEXPO Tallinn, the biggest green technology exhibition in the history of Estonia. The main exhibition area is focused on green innovation and will showcase nearly 80 exhibitors from around the world, presenting the most ambitious solutions for a more sustainable future.

According to Mihhail Kõlvart, the Mayor of Tallinn, NEXPO Tallinn is the flagship event of the European Green Capital 2023 programme, bringing the latest and most innovative green technologies from all over the world to Estonia. "Sharing best practices and state-of-the-art ideas among green technology experts, entrepreneurs and researchers will promote cooperation, which is key for building a more sustainable future," said Kõlvart. He added that countries around the world are looking for ways to reduce their environmental footprint by making transport and energy infrastructure more sustainable, while also cultivating greener urban spaces. "Therefore, NEXPO Tallinn is a great place to learn about and to draw inspiration from the most innovative green solutions that could be introduced in Estonia as well," noted Kõlvart.

"How to use cosmic muon radiation to assess the condition of buildings? How could the cosmetics industry use fats and oils produced from residues of forest, agricultural and food industries? How does it feel to travel in a self-driving car? How will meat be grown in laboratories of the future? One can find the answers to these and many other questions at NEXPO Tallinn," commented Teele Joost, the head coordinator of NEXPO Tallinn, adding that the event offers a wide range of exciting discoveries and hands-on activities for the whole family.

One of the central aims of NEXPO Tallinn is to raise awareness among the people of Estonia about green technologies and showcase how these innovative solutions will affect our daily lives in the future. Green innovation is gaining momentum around the globe, and many solutions that used to be considered science fiction are now becoming tangible. "This new future of sustainability will arrive faster than we thought. We should not regard green technology as something unattainable, too complex or even beyond our grasp. To survive and thrive, we must remain curious and courageous, while also embracing change, and make the best use of these innovative solutions," explained Joost. As such, NEXPO Tallinn, will offer Estonians a unique opportunity to peek into the future and learn about latest developments in sustainable products or services.
