BRUSSELS - The European Union's top foreign policy official Kaja Kallas visited Belgrad on Thursday and called on Serbia to follow the European Union's foreign policy, Interfax reports.

"Serbia faces a strategic, geostrategic choice, where it wants to be," Kaja Kallas said during her visit to Belgrade. "Serbia's European future depends on the values it chooses to uphold."

Kallas said that she discussed a wide range of topics with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, including Serbia's European prospects and the country's foreign policy.

The EU's foreign policy chief added that she also spoke with Vučić about his recent trip to Moscow, where the Serbian leader took part in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany.

Kallas said that the European Union expects candidate countries, including Serbia, to "follow common policy," which she described as equivalent to asking, "Do you want to be with us?"

"Because if you are in the European Union, then we work together. That is how we operate. And that is exactly what we want to see from our candidate countries," she added.
