EU leaders to decide on next steps for international isolation of Putin's regime

RIGA - Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) on March 24-25 will participate in the European Council meeting, where EU leaders will decide on the next steps for international isolation of Russian President Vladimir Putin's regime, LETA learned from the prime minister's office.

EU leaders and US President Joe Biden will discuss further steps in the joint EU-US reaction to Russia's attack on Ukraine, discussing in detail further support to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia.

Also, the leaders plan to discuss reducing energy dependence from Russia and potential joint procurements. The leaders will discuss Europe's security and defense policy, EU economic issues, Covid-19 and preparation for the EU-China summit.
