RIGA - EU foreign ministers on August 27-28 will hold an informal meeting in Berlin to discuss the events in Belarus and possible EU sanctions.
As Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity) told the press after the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting earlier, European politicians have agreed on preparation of sanctions. Rinkevics said that a strict and clear reaction of the EU to the situation in Belarus is necessary.
The minister repeatedly underscored that Belarus authorities should promote internal political dialogue.
