Estonian President pays tribute to those killed in Vilnius on January 13 1991

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves has hailed the progress the Baltic states have made since gaining independence from the Soviet Union.  Ilves’ words come on the 25th anniversary of the January Events in Vilnius, Lithuania, which saw 14 unarmed Lithuanians killed while protesting against the Soviet Union’s attempt to regain control of the Lithuanian Republic.  The events took place on January 13, 1991.
