TALLINN – Commenting on the presidential elections held in Russia last weekend, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Vladimir Putin, who is clinging to his position at all costs, has no democratic legitimacy while remaining in power.

"The so-called elections in Russia are not free or fair. Putin lacks any democratic legitimacy, he is an autocrat and has been for a long time. There has been no change here," Tsahkna was quoted by ministry spokespeople as saying.

"At the same time, it is he who leads Russia and makes decisions there as president, for which he must also be held responsible before the International Criminal Court. Putin's right place is in The Hague," the minister added.
