RIGA - Estonian drone technology company Meridein Grupp, the parent company of Latvia-based Baltic Drone Group, will build a drone production plant in the Baltics with a capacity of up to 2,000 drones per day, the company informed LETA.
The location of the factory is not being disclosed for security reasons, but the first drones could be produced in the first half of 2026.
The new facility will produce FPV strike drones, ammunition drop drones and ISR reconnaissance drones. Production will be for both domestic defense needs and for export to international markets.
The new plant is planned as a high-capacity production center with a capacity of up to 2,000 drones per day, providing strategic support to the region's defense and security sectors, the company said.
Meridein Grupp has also signed cooperation agreements with a number of Ukrainian drone manufacturers as well as European industry representatives, the company said. The plan is to set up a factory that will provide full-cycle drone production - from prototyping to the final product.
Meridein Grupp is an Estonian-owned company operating in the Baltic and Scandinavian markets, offering integrated drone solutions - from development and sales to testing, maintenance and implementation of safety systems. The company is a member of the Estonian Defense and Space Industry Association. Meridein Grupp operates in the Baltic market under the trademarks Droni.lv, Droon.ee and Dronai.lt.
In 2024, Baltic Drone Group had a turnover of EUR 269,965 and made a loss of EUR 77,514, according to Firmas.lv.
Baltic Drone Group was registered in 2019 with a share capital of EUR 2,800. The company is owned by Meridein Grupp of Estonia.
