TALLINN - In the first round of the first major tennis tournament of the year, the Australian Open, Estonian tennis player Kaia Kanepi, WTA No 101, lost 6-7, 6-2, 3-6 to Czech player Barbora Krejcikova, WTA No 128, the daily Postimees writes.
Kanepi and Krejcikova had never played against each other before.
Estonia's top player Anett Kontaveit, WTA No 31, is part of the second half of the match table and should start playing on Tuesday. In the first round, Kontaveit will face Australia's Astra Sharma, WTA No 111. While Kontaveit and Sharma are the same age, both 24, they have never played against each other before.
