Estonia restricts access to 7 hate-mongering websites

TALLINN - The Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority has ordered telecommunications companies to block access to seven websites that spread war propaganda and incite hatred.

According to the resolution, the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority obliges telecoms operators to block the web addresses ntv.ru, ren.tv, 5-tv.ru, 78.ru, 1tv.com, lenta.ru and tass.ru and to make them inaccessible to end-users of their internet connection.

The Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority has established that these websites spread war propaganda, justify and support the commission of a crime of aggression and incite hatred.

The precept is valid for 12 months.

The Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority will continue to actively monitor the content of websites. Most up-to-date information on the media channels and web platforms restricted in Estonia can be found on the agency's website.
