TALLINN - The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday summoned the chargé d'affaires of the Russian embassy and handed over a diplomatic note regarding Estonia's decision to close two border crossing points for nighttime traffic.

Upon handing over the note, the Foreign Ministry informed the representative of the Russian embassy that Estonia is closing two border crossing points for nighttime traffic due to border incidents originating from the Russian Federation.

The note explained that on February 5, the Estonian government decided to amend the June 25, 2002, regulation No. 205, "Border Crossing Points Open for International Traffic," and to close the Luhamaa and Koidula border crossing points at night, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., for a period of up to three months. The measure will take effect on February 24.
