Employees of the bomb squad of the Estonian Rescue Board on Wednesday removed a Russian submarine signal buoy that a resident had discovered on the coast in the territory of the Mustjala municipality of Saaremaa Island, the regional newspaper Saarte Haal reported.
Janek Sonum, head of the bomb squad for western Estonia, told the publication that the object found was a KSP submarine emergency signal buoy which, after being released by the submarine and breaking the surface, shoots out a signal rocket and lets out coloured smoke into the air at a certain point in time.
