RIGA - Courts in Latvia have so far recognized the families of three same-sex couples, Kaspars Zalitis, a co-chairman of Riga Pride, informed as he opened Riga Pride and raised the rainbow flag.

Zalitis said at the opening event that various LGBT-themed discussions, exhibitions, conferences and political events will take place in Riga in the week leading to the pride parade which is returning to Riga after a four-year interval.

In Zalitis' words, this year's Riga Pride will take place as a part of Kyiv Pride with the moto "Until We Are All Free", therefore the event will include guests from Ukraine.
