Commanders of NATO Northeast flank to meet in Riga to discuss Alliance's ability to defend its territory

RIGA - High-ranked NATO commanders whose headquarters and troops are deployed in the Alliance's Northeast flank, are meeting in Riga from Monday to Wednesday, LETA was told at the NATO Force Integration Unit (FIU). 

The meeting is organized with the purpose to discuss the Alliance's ability to defend every centimeter of its territory if need be. 

The conference will be chaired by Lieutenant General Jurgen-Joachim von Sandrart, Commander Multinational Corps Northeast.

The NATO Multinational Corps Northeast leads NATO activities in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. As the supreme NATO command headquarters in the region, Multinational Corps Northeast is in charge of NATO's ground forces deployed in the Alliance's Northeast flank. 

Participants of the conference will include commanders of Multinational Corps North, Multinational Corps Northeast, several allied ground force divisions, as well as NATO FIUs and other NATO elements, to discuss the Alliance's ability to repel any attack.
