VILNIUS – Bottles containing a flammable liquid were thrown at the Russian Embassy in Vilnius on Sunday and Monday nights, the Police Department said.
The building's wall was damaged in the incidents. The extent of the damage is being assessed.
Both bottles were thrown at the embassy between 2 and 3 a.m.
Two pre-trial investigations were initially launched and they now have been merged.
"(...) A pre-trial investigation into damage caused to property in a generally dangerous manner is underway. (...) The pre-trial investigation is being carried out in connection with the two criminal acts," Gintare Vitkauskaite-Satkauskiene, spokeswoman for the prosecution service, told the BNS.
"Right now, intensive procedural actions are being carried out in order to establish the circumstances of the incidents and to identify the persons who may have committed the criminal offense."
The Prosecutor General's Office has refrained to provide detailed information about the investigation, saying that it does not want to undermine the probe.
