Blugers named Latvia's hockey player of the year

RIGA - Latvian forward Teodors Blugers has been named Latvia's ice hockey player of the year by voters of Latvian newspaper Latvijas Avize. Blugers currently plays for the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, and in 39 matches so far this season has scored five goals and made six assists. Last year, goaltender Elvis Merzlikins, who currently plays for the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, was named Latvia's ice hockey player of the year.
