Bank of Latvia to issue commemorative coin dedicated to 100th anniversary of de iure recognition of Republic of Latvia

RIGA - On January 20, the Bank of Latvia will issue a two-euro commemorative coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of de iure recognition of the Republic of Latvia, LETA learned from the Bank of Latvia.

The national side of the commemorative coin bears the inscription "100 LATVIJA DE IURE" as well as the year of issue (2021).

The price of the two-euro coin in Brilliant Uncirculated quality available in gift packaging is EUR 7.90, and the purchase limit for one buyer is five pieces (total mintage: 5,000 pieces), while the price of the circulation coin set is EUR 25, and the purchase limit for one buyer – five sets (total mintage: 7,000 sets).

The souvenir set "Latvia de iure 100" contains the euro circulation coins issued in 2021 whose nominal value ranges between 1 cent and 2 euro, including the new 2 euro commemorative coin.

The author of the graphic design of the national side of the new commemorative coin is artist Zane Ernstreite. The new 2 euro coin has been minted by Staatliche Munze Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany).

Latvijas Banka continues the tradition of minting circulation coins of special design in Latvia. Euro commemorative coins are legal tender in the Republic of Latvia and other euro area countries.
