RIGA - Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze (New Unity), together with other Baltic foreign ministers, has left for a working visit to the United States, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed LETA.
Braze will meet with representatives of the US House of Congress and Senate, several US think tanks involved in planning the strategic direction of the new US administration's foreign policy, as well as attend a conference of the international security think tank Globsec in Washington.
According to the MFA, the Globsec Transatlantic Forum brings together policy makers, business leaders and experts to discuss transatlantic relations and issues ranging from security and defense to artificial intelligence, trade and energy. The conference focuses on practical solutions and opportunities for cooperation.
Braze will also address participants at the US Chamber of Commerce's Cybersecurity Policy Professionals Forum, where the annual award will be presented for the second time, as well as participate in a roundtable discussion with members of the American-Central European Business Association.
The Minister is also scheduled to be interviewed by US media.
According to the MFA, the purpose of the visit is to deepen relations with the US, including in the NATO framework, regionally and bilaterally, as well as to discuss cooperation in support of Ukraine and containment of Russia.
