Baltic Assembly Presidium adopts statement on Greenland and future of democracy in Europe

RIGA - The Presidium of the Baltic Assembly today in Vilnius adopted the statement "On Greenland and the Future of Democracy in Europe," Saeima Press Service informed LETA.

The Baltic Assembly fully stands in solidarity with the Nordic region, says the statement, highlighting that the Baltic countries stand firmly for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Denmark, as well as are committed to developing further joint steps by the European Union to protect democracy in Europe.

The Baltic Assembly members remind that all decisions on Greenland belong exclusively to the people of Greenland and Denmark and emphasize that the Baltic countries and the Nordic countries continue to demonstrate unwavering unity during these challenging times, standing together in support of one another and reaffirming their shared commitment to democratic values.

The Baltic parliamentarians underscore the importance of the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark being part of NATO, thus ensuring a platform for addressing challenges related to the security of Greenland and the whole Arctic region.

The Baltic Assembly members also call the European Union member countries to uphold unity in position and action, supported by consistent communication and ongoing direct dialogue with the United States, while maintaining unwavering support and consistent focus on Ukraine.
