Baltic and Polish prosecutors general to sign declaration of cooperation

RIGA - A meeting of the Baltic and Polish prosecutors general is scheduled to take place in Poland from Tuesday to Thursday, with a declaration confirming the countries' joint commitment to strengthen cooperation expected to be signed during the meeting, the Latvian Prosecutor General's Office informed LETA.

During the meeting, the Polish Prosecutor General's Office will present its experience in investigating crimes related to espionage and terrorism. Discussions at the meeting are also expected to address procedural challenges arising from Russia's war against Ukraine, including regional security issues.

Investigations into cases where smugglers use weather balloons to send goods across the border from Belarusian territory will also be discussed.

The prosecutors general will discuss the methods and challenges of handling fraud cases involving identity theft, in which the perpetrator pretends to be another person or organization trusted by the victim.

At the end of the meeting, Latvian Prosecutor General Armins Meisters, Lithuanian Prosecutor General Nida Grunskiene, Estonian Prosecutor General Astrid Asi, and Polish Prosecutor General Waldemar Zurek will sign a declaration on strengthening cooperation.
