Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Todd D. Robinson visited Latvia

RIGA – During an April 4 visit to Riga, Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Todd D. Robinson met with Latvian officials to discuss further strengthening U.S. – Latvian law enforcement and security partnerships.

Assistant Secretary Robinson met with Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns to reaffirm our shared commitment to combating corruption and illicit finance.  Current INL programs help to strengthen the resiliency and accountability of Latvia’s judiciary.

The Assistant Secretary also met with Dimitrijs Trofimovs, State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, to discuss our joint efforts to strengthen Latvian border security.

In addition, Assistant Secretary Robinson met with Andžejs Viļumsons, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss U.S.-Latvia bilateral issues.

At the Department of State, the INL Bureau’s mission is to counter crime, illegal drugs, and instability abroad. INL helps partner governments build and sustain competent, legitimate, and accountable criminal justice systems, as well as develop the architecture necessary for cross-border law enforcement cooperation.
