Abols sent down to AHL

FLORIDA - Up and coming Latvian national team forward Rodrigo Abols has been sent down to the AHL farm-club of the NHL's Florida Panthers.

The 23-year-old forward will begin the new season with the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds.

The Panthers signed a two-year entry level agreement with Abols in May.

The new NHL season will begin on October 2.
