Palanga, Lithuania’s most famous seaside resort gem, offers not only spectacular sandy beaches, fresh sea air, unforgettable sunset walks on the iconic pier, and vibrant evenings on Basanavicius Street, but also a distinct UK, Irish, and American spirit on the promenade, emanating from Resort Pub – a groovy, popular pub known for its wide beer selection and generous grill dishes, especially the popular half-kilo Texas 66 ribs.
“I would like Lithuania to have the same tradition as in Great Britain or Ireland: ‘Work – Pub – Home.’ More than a bar, Resort Pub is a place to gather, watch sports, and enjoy Palanga’s friendly, carefree coastal spirit,” Sandra Kakhiani, the pub’s general manager and a standout, gregarious personality of the resort and the Basanavicius promenade, told The Baltic Times Magazine.
How did the Resort Pub concept come about?
We travel a lot around the world and noticed that Palanga was missing a good beer bar (pub) where people could drop in to socialize or watch sports, enjoy a good steak, and have a beer.
How would you describe pub culture on the Lithuanian coast, in Lithuania in general, and in London, where you lived? What is Lithuania still missing?
In Lithuania, pub culture is still developing, while in London it is a way of life. I would like Lithuania to have the same tradition as in Great Britain or Ireland: “Work – Pub – Home.”
Is it true that your parents looked for ideas for Resort Pub not only in the UK but also in the USA? Which of those ideas were implemented in Palanga? Which ones did you develop yourselves?
Yes. My parents, Asta and Artūras, traveled extensively around the USA, the UK, and Ireland, gathered ideas, and formed a clear vision of what our pub should look like. My own strong sides are communication with guests and marketing.
Which Resort Pub achievements are you especially proud of? Which recognitions are the most valuable to you? Have you received any national or international awards?
Our strengths are a wide selection of beers and our grill dishes. We are especially proud of our dish “Texas 66” (half a kilo of ribs). Food critics have given us the highest rating.
As the director of Resort Pub, what is most important to you?
The most important things are the atmosphere, a professional and warm team, and a sincere connection with our guests.
Why should foreigners come to Palanga? And why should they walk through your doors?
We offer a cozy interior and a friendly, informal atmosphere. Tasty food, large portions, a wide selection of beers and drinks, and the chance to watch sports events or simply have a great time. Everyone is always very welcome!
What does Resort Pub promise in 2026?
In 2026, we promise to remain exactly as we have always been.
