From 27 March to 30 April, visitors of the shopping and entertainment centre AKROPOLE Alfa will have the opportunity to see the exhibition “Master of My Own Self” by painter Mareks Gureckis. The exhibition is located in the 3rd floor exhibition hall. The exhibition features 16 artworks made over the last decade, based on motifs of tiles, chess pieces and piano keys. Every day from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm enjoy the beauty created by matter of chance, which the artist includes in every painting.
Mareks Gureckis is an experienced artist who has been exhibiting his paintings throughout Europe and outside its borders since 1995. The artist's work is based on a distinctly mixed technique, using oil and acrylic paints, metals, varnishes and other materials from the art industry's vast assortment. The materials used are put in 5-6 layers to achieve the artist's characteristic “handwriting”; therefore, each painting takes a relatively long time to create - from a month to a year.
“My latest exhibition resembles a game; in its squares of colour you can enjoy the clash of unconventional technical execution and thoughts of the mind blending squares into bigger entities. Most important is the beauty created by matter of chance, which I try to incorporate in every painting, so that every viewer can find something for himself or herself, contemplating on major or simple, ordinary things. For the last ten years I have been playing with tile, chess pieces and piano keyboard motifs in order to create the most perfect work possible, but the most important thing is that final feeling experienced by each individual guest of the exhibition,” explains the artist Mareks Gureckis.
“We have noticed that our visitors are coming to the exhibition hall more and more often, where they can surrender to their thoughts and feelings about a specific work of art for a moment. This is the fifth exhibition in the AKROPOLE Alfa exhibition hall, which adds to the wide range of shopping experiences. This time it is the talented artist Mareks Gureckis, whose works have already travelled the world and will delight our eyes for the next month; therefore, we are truly honoured to dedicate this platform to the exhibition “Master of My Own Self”,” says Zane Kaktiņa, manager of the AKROPOLE Alfa shopping centre.
Entrance to the exhibition is free of charge. The exhibition is available every day from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm on the 3rd floor of AKROPOLE Alfa.
