RIGA - Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 213 Ukrainian doctors have received a temporary permit to practice in Latvia, the Latvian Medical Association (LMA) has found out.
Last year, a total of 51 temporary practice permits were issued.
Since the beginning of the war, the largest number of permits has been issued to Ukrainian dentists - 56. Another 16 permits have been issued to doctors in internal medicine, 14 - in anaesthesiology and reanimatology, 10 - to family medicine doctors and the same number to surgeons. The number of temporary permits issued in other specialties is lower, but almost all specialties are represented.
The LMA points out that not everyone who has been granted a permit is actually working.
The LMA provides free support to Ukrainian doctors in preparing and submitting the necessary documents.
