The year 2018 affects all the three Baltic states with a singularly extraordinary event, namely their centennial anniversaries that will be celebrated in Lithuania on February 16, in Estonia on February 24 and in Latvia on November 18.
The festivities will be spread out throughout the year, and they mark not only joy, but also vividly remind the pain and the life loss that the Latvians, Estonians and Lithuanians sustained throughout the Soviet years during the occupation and in the aftermath of the re-establishment of their respective statehoods.
