TALLINN – An accident happened in the town of Jogeva on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in which a person was hit by a passenger train, the regional Tartu Postimees writes.
A 27-year-old woman hit by the train died at the scene of the accident.
Rescuers helped get the victim out from under the train.
The exact circumstances of the incident will be clarified by the police.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened at the railway crossing next to the railway station in Jogeva. People at the scene saw the victim walking by the train station already a few hours earlier.
The passenger train involved in the accident was on its way from Jogeva to Tartu. The train was also forced to move forward a little at the station in order to enable rescue work.
