The Catch, Riga
The Catch brings the best of Japan to Riga, but without any pretension and without the chain-style ambience of commercial sushi restaurants. The establishment is the perfect gourmand’s catch itself.
This family-run sushi bistrot + robata, serves a cream-of-the-crop seafood fillets actually melting on your taste buds. Salmon, bluefin tuna, Kamchatka crab, delivered by air-mail from Japan, Scotland, Atlantics, never deep frozen, served plainly on ice – not to ruin the aristocratic authenticity of the raw/fresh taste. Also tempura, thick ramens, robata grill (V.S. and rare for the Baltics), seafood-rich sushi rolls and Japanese-minded cocktails (try Yuzu-Zuzu for a start) and beers.
The crunchy sea bass truffle is excellent, as is the tofu bowl, and the matcha tea ice cream is the perfect finale to the evening. Take a seat at the bar, in the window niche or under colourful murals of mermaids deeper inside this trendy, yet casual half-basement.
Enjoy the busy-cheerful gourmet bar ambience. Happy epicurean, enthusiasm-driven owner is here every day to keep-up the level. The Catch is refreshingly affordable. And very popular, so be sure to book a table in advance.
To do so, please call the restaurant staff (+371) 2777 0091. The address is 12-19 Antonijas Street (entrance from Dzirnavu Street). The Catch is open late to make every night count!
