Welfare Ministry wants EUR 6.4 million

The Welfare Ministry has asked for EUR 6.4 million to be allotted from the 2019 budget in order to increase wages paid to state social care centers' employees. Welfare Minister Janis Reirs (Unity) told Saeima Social and Employment Matters Committee on 19 September that the Welfare Ministry considered increasing social care centers employees' wages one of its priorities for the next few years.
