RIGA - Mass-scale voluntary vaccination of all residents against Covid-19 will be launched as soon as it is technically possible, said Health Minister Daniels Pavluts (For Development) in a press conference today.

The vaccines available in Latvia in January will be sufficient for vaccination of half of the medical staff. Therefore, as soon as the vaccination process takes up pace, mass-scale vaccination should be launched, at the same level, following the earlier plan on priorities.

Pavluts has discussed this issue with the government members, and also President Egils Levits on Monday.

As reported, in January, Latvia will get in total 32,000 BioNTech and Pfizer vaccines and 3,200 Moderna vaccines.

On Monday, 1,312 people in Latvia received vaccines, which brings the total number of vaccinated people to 8.274.
