VILNIUS – Rimantas Vingras, a lecturer at Vytautas Magnus University's Music Academy and head of cultural cooperation projects, has on Tuesday won the competition for Lithuania's culture attaché in Russia, the Culture Ministry said.
Vingras received the highest score among six candidates.
Vingaras received an MA degree in arts from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 1996 and then received a MA degree in music from the University of Cincinnati in 2001.
Since 2011, Vingras has been involved in projects aimed at promoting international cooperation in the area of culture and art in Lithuania. He started lecturing at Vytautas Magnus University's Music Academy in 2020.
Vingras will assume his new position following checks by the special services and will replace the outgoing attaché, Russian philologist Inga Vidugiryte-Pakeriene.
A culture attaché is appointed for a term of three years.
