VILNIUS – Single-use plastic tableware will not longer be used during festivities in Vilnius, the local council decided on Wednesday, backing a change to the existing rules on public trading places
The decision will come into force in early March.
Lukas Savickas, a representative of the opposition Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union on the Vilnius Council and an adviser to Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, who initiated the amendment, says it’s "a great chance for businesses to take up leadership in protecting environment".
