Vilnius mayor elected to head Lithuanian Liberal Movement

Vilnius Mayor Remigijus Simasius was elected as the new leader of Lithuania's opposition Liberal Movement at the party's congress on Saturday after being appointed as acting leader of the political force last month. Simasius was one of four candidates in the Liberals' race for leadership, competing against MPs Eugenijus Gentvilas and Vitalijus Gailius, as well as a Kaunas Liberal Sergejus Zverevas.
