VILNIUS – Vilnius is the cheapest capital among the Baltic states for foreigners, shows the annual survey conducted by the Mercer consulting company.
Among the most expensive cities for foreigners, Vilnius ranks 167th among 209 rated cities, while Riga placed 126th and Tallinn 160th.
Foreigners find Poland's capital Warsaw cheaper than the Baltic capitals, ranking 180th, while Belarusian capital Minsk was 200th.
In the survey, Mercer compares prices of more than 200 goods and services, including rent of accommodation, food, transport, and entertainment.
Governments and international companies are cautious about the Mercer surveys and consider ratings when calculating the posting costs of their employees abroad.
