In the third discussion of the Riga Security Forum, distinguished foreign policy experts delved into the notion of "sanctioned coalitions" — referring to nations subject to sanctions imposed by both the European Union and the United States, endeavoring to forge collaborative ties.

Such countries include Iran and North Korea, which appear to be seeking a partnership with sanctioned Russia. The discussion analyzes how strong and influential such partner relations between the countries of the "sanctioned coalition" could become.

The Riga Security Forum’s podcast features the Programme Director at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs Dr. Arkady Moshes and the Research Analyst at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) Dr. Ian Anthony. The conversation is moderated by the Director of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs Dr. Karlis Bukovskis.

The Riga Security Forum brings together international experts in security, politics, technology, education, and defense. In a series of freely available webcasts, the Forum's interlocutors explore issues of global significance through political self-reflection and, by answering uncomfortable questions, strengthen mutual understanding in building a safer future. This year's theme is "How European is European Security?".

A new audio and video episode will be released weekly in both English and Latvian from October 31 to the end of December, covering topics across both the "traditional" or conventional dimensions of security and the "unconventional" or non-conventional security challenges.

In the upcoming episode on November 22, foreign policy experts will deliberate on "Nuclear Arsenal and China: A Comprehensive Discussion."

The discussions are freely available on the website: www.rigasecurityforum.liia.lv, on the LIIA social media accounts, and on Apple and Spotify platforms.

The project is the result of a successful collaboration between the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, NATO Public Diplomacy Department, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Baltic States, Embassies of the United States, Poland, Canada, Spain in Latvia, as well as international defense, security and aviation lifecycle support services, pilot training and technology solutions provider “Patria”, Riga Graduate School of Law Riga and 5G Techritory platform.
