Vejonis to participate in NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government this week

RIGA - Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis on May 25-26 will head on a working visit to Brussels to participate in the NATO Summit for the Heads of State and Government, the President’s Chancellery reported.

NATO leaders plan to discuss increase of defense financing and bigger NATO involvement in the fight against terrorism.

Vejonis said that unity of the European and North American allies in strengthening defense capabilities is important for Latvia. These capabilities should meet the 21st century challenges, including cyber defense and strategic communication.
