RIGA - President Raimonds Vejonis will meet with prime minister nominee Aldis Gobzems (KPV LV) on Monday at Riga Castle, LETA was informed by the Presidential Chancery.
The meeting will take place at 3:00 p.m.
The president is releasing no more comments this evening on the latest development in the government formation process.
As reported, prime minister nominee Aldis Gobzems has withdrawn his initial proposal for the Cabinet of Ministers and in the coming days will propose "a government of non-partisan professionals", Gobzems told LETA.
Also, Gobzems plans to reduce the number of ministers, returning to the promises given by KPV LV during the election campaign. KPV LV before the elections promised to cut the number of ministries down to six.
In case his plan is rejected, he will call on President Raimonds Vejonis to launch a procedure for new parliament elections.
Meanwhile, most of the parties represented in parliament have stated that they will not support Gobzems' latest proposal.
