US and NAF generals discuss future of US Army's V Corps in Europe

RIGA - Lieutenant General John Kolasheski, Commander of the US Army's V Corps, met with the Latvian National Armed Forces' (NAF) Brigadier General Imants Ziedins to discuss the future of V Corps in Europe.

The US Embassy in Riga informed LETA that Kolasheski visited Latvia on Tuesday and met with Ziedins and other Latvian military officials to discuss regional security and V Corps' role in strengthening the Alliance, as well as common commitment to democratic values and fundamental rights. 

Thanking Latvia for the opportunity to discuss the future of V Corps in Europe, Lieutenant General Kolasheski indicated that the US military is working to enhance interoperability and expand relations with friends and allies. We have a common goal to boost Latvia's security and we are committed to protecting our allies, Lieutenant General Kolasheski said.

The US Army's V Corps, activated on October 16, 2020 and headquartered in Poland, ensures constant rotation of personnel.
