Urbanovics elected leader of Harmony

RIGA - During a party congress today, veteran politician  Janis Urbanovics was voted in as the new leader of Harmony.

Urbanovics currently serves as the head of the party's group at Saeima.

Urbanovics received 218 votes from party delegates during today's congress.

Meanwhile, MP Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis received 49 votes, while former MP Andris Morozovs received 18 votes.

Urbanovics promised to work on rebuilding team spirit within the party and promoting improved communication between members at all levels. The politician would like to return to the values that the party once held.

Urbanovics also stressed that he was ready to take on the leadership of the party for only two years, hoping to develop a new generation of party leaders during this period.

The party's previous leader - current European Parliament Member Nils Usakovs, said that he will not run for another term as party leader after being elected to the European Parliament.
