TALLINN - The Tallinn Urban Planning Department has launched the detailed plan for the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds and nearby area, covering 35.86 hectares and including the grounds and surrounding areas in the Central Tallinn and Lasnamäe city districts.

"The plan does not change the current use of the Song Festival Grounds but complements it," said Martin Karro, head of the Tallinn Urban Planning Department . "The planned reconstructions are needed to provide modern facilities for large concerts, fairs, and other major cultural and sports events in addition to traditional gatherings.”

The drafting of the detailed plan will pay special attention to preserving natural and cultural values, traffic and parking solutions, and creating high-quality public space. It will also set out possible locations for technical networks and infrastructure and measures for preserving valuable tall vegetation.

The initiation of the plan was sought by the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds Foundation. The solution is based on the architectural competition entry prepared jointly by the architecture firm Kolm Pluss Üks and OÜ Lootusprojekt.

The proposal to initiate the plan and the preliminary design, based on the winning entry of the architectural competition, can be viewed in the Tallinn planning register.
