In 2017, 85,400 people in Latvia were unemployed, which is 8.7 percent of economically active population, according to the results of the Labor Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau.Compared to 2016, the number of unemployed persons has dropped by 9,900 or 10.4 per cent.
The Latvian unemployment rate last year was 0.9 percentage points lower than in 2016. Unemployment rate among females still was lower than among males – 7.7 per cent and 9.8 per cent, respectively.
