RIGA - US President-elect Donald Trump will start his presidency with an active start, which will be noticeable as he tries to undo as quickly as possible what former President Joe Biden has done over the past four years, Maris Andzans, Director of the Center for Geopolitical Studies and Associate Professor at Riga Stradins University, told TV3 this morning.
On day one, Trump is expected to issue 100 or even 200 executive orders to strengthen the external border, to search for and deport illegal immigrants, to limit the arrival of new immigrants, to fight so-called diversity policies.
He is expected to repeal Biden's orders restricting the extraction of natural gas and oil resources, Andzans said.
He predicts that relations between the European Union (EU) Member States and the US will be difficult for the next four years. It is clear that Trump will require more defense spending, he stressed. "Trade wars or battles" with EU countries are also to be expected, the expert predicted.
