Travel warning extended to Spain, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland due to Covid-19

RIGA - Starting from March 11, the State Operative Medical Commission (VOMK) has extended the list of countries stricken by the novel coronavirus Covid-19, including also Spain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the list, LETA learned from the Health Ministry

It means that the special precautionary measures now refer to 11 countries - China, South Korea, Iran, Japan, Singapore, Italy, Spain, France, German, Austria and Switzerland. The ministry warns against traveling to these countries because of high infection risks. Upon return to Latvia from those destinations, people should stay quarantined at home for 14 days.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry recommends to carefully consider the need to travel to the following destinations - Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Greece, Iraq, Iceland, Canada, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the US.

As reported, so far ten Latvian nationals have been tested positive for Covid-19. Nine of them are from the same tourist group that returned from Italy last weekend.

So far, 291 people have been tested for Covid-19 in Latvia, including 17 in the last 24 hours.
