RIGA - Three psychosocial rehabilitation camps for children from Ukraine who have lost parents will be organized in Latvia this summer with a donation of EUR 70,000 from Latvenergo energy group, LETA was told at Ziedot.lv charity NGO.

On the basis of the EUR 70,000 donation from Latvenergo, two organizations have been selected in a competition to provide three summer camps for Ukrainian children who have lost their closest person to the war - one or both of their parents. The aim of the camps is to provide psycho-emotional support to the kids and create unforgettable childhood memories.

During the call for proposals, 11 applications were received from seven organizations to organize the summer camps in Riga and the Vidzeme region. Based on the recommendations from the Ukrainian partners and the evaluation of the applications, as well as an expert commission, the decision was taken to support the organizing of three camps in Riga and Cesis.

Mini-pitch will organize a camp in Riga from July 4 to 11 with a total budget of EUR 23,333 and will also organize another camp in Riga from July 14 to 21 with the same budget.

In Cesis, the DUEsport association will organize a camp from August 15 to 22 with a budget of EUR 23,333.

The summer camps will be attended by Ukrainian children from the city and region of Chernihiv, as well as the city and region of Odessa.

The duration of the camps will be seven days, during which the children will receive psycho-emotional support, create childhood memories, forget the war and get to know the nature and cities of Latvia.

"We cannot bring back their loved ones, but we can create peace and heal their souls," says Ziedot.lv head Ruta Dimanta, expressing gratitude to Latvenergo for the donation that has enabled the summer camps for the Ukrainian children.
