This May has been coldest in this century in Latvia

RIGA - Last month in Latvia had been the coldest May since 1999, according to the data by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology.

The average monthly air temperature was +9.5 degrees C or 1.9 degrees below the average temperature in 1981-2010. This May, the temperature did not raise above +22 degrees C, while the lowest registered temperature was -2.6 degrees on May 8 in Stende.

Five coldest temperature records were beaten in May.

The average precipitation amount in May was 47 millimetres, which is close to the norm. Daugavpils reported the highest precipitation or 104 millimetres of rain and snow, while Rucava reported the lowest level - 21 millimetres.
