RIGA - The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) say that there is no urgent need for the administration of booster doses of Covid-19 vaccines to fully vaccinated individuals in the general population, LETA learned from the Latvian Medicines Agency.
EMA published such statement based on the recent data on protection of the vaccines against the dominating virus types.
EMA and ECDC underscored that it is important to ensure high vaccination rate in general public.
Also, EMA has started evaluation of data submitted by Pfizer/BioNTech for a booster dose to be given six months after the second dose in people 16 years of age and older.
