Found in the Veriora municipality of Estonia’s southeastern Polva county, the tree measures 46.6 metres in height.
According to the Estonian state forest management centre, the RMK, the tree is 1.3 metres taller than the next tallest of its kind, which is in Poland.
Recent research carried out by scientists from the Estonian University of Life Sciences shows the tree to be at least 214 years old.
