In recent years, the Benelux and Scandinavian regions have set a clear precedent for what modern business leadership looks like; one rooted in transparency, environmental responsibility, and social impact. Now, the Baltic region is embracing that same shift with growing resolve. As companies in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia begin to adopt globally recognised standards like B Lab’s standards for B Corp certification, it's clear the Baltics are not lagging behind but actively contributing to a broader European movement toward purpose-driven, accountable business.
What is the B Corp movement?
The B Corp Certification means that a company has been verified as meeting B Lab’s rigorous standards of social and environmental impact, accountability, and transparency. Companies must undergo a comprehensive B Impact Assessment, scoring at least 80 out of 200 possible points across categories such as governance, workers' rights, community engagement, environmental impact, and customer stewardship.
The movement has now grown to include over 10,000 businesses across more than 100 countries worldwide, spanning industries from finance to food and cosmetics. What unites them is a commitment to use business as a force for good, creating value not just for shareholders, but for all stakeholders.
Earlier in 2025, B Lab’s new standards were unveiled, raising the bar for all businesses. After engaging with diverse stakeholders through a multi-year consultation process, B Lab introduced requirements that all B Corps must meet across seven critical Impact Topics, moving away from cumulative point scoring. The first companies are expected to certify on B Lab’s new standards in 2026.
Why it matters more than ever
As consumer and investor expectations shift, the demand for responsible and sustainable business practices has never been greater. B Corp status offers a globally recognised symbol of trust, one that goes beyond surface-level CSR claims.
"The certification creates a framework for us to hold ourselves accountable," Baltic Assist CEO and co-founder Andžej Rynkevič shared. "It's not a marketing badge. It's a commitment to long-term responsibility and transparency." Edvinas Saviciunas – Head of Marketing emphasises.
The framework ensures continuous improvement, requiring recertification every three years and embedding stakeholder governance into the company, a crucial element that guards against greenwashing.
Setting the benchmark for Lithuania
Founded in 2015, Baltic Assist offers virtual staffing and finance and accounting solutions to over 600 clients worldwide. But what sets the company apart isn't just its services, it's how they're delivered. From internal CSR initiatives to transparent communication policies and sustainable workplace practices, Baltic Assist has steadily integrated purpose into its business model.
In April 2024, the company achieved B Corp Certification, officially entering the global community of impact-driven enterprises. As part of the process, Baltic Assist underwent operational restructuring to align with B Lab's high standards.
"It was a rigorous process that validated what we've believed all along, that sustainable business is not only ethical, but also viable and scalable," said Andžej Rynkevič.
Baltics on the rise: a regional movement
Lithuania is not alone in embracing the B Corp mindset. Across Europe, the interest in B Corp Certification is growing, with 2,400+ businesses already being part of the European B Corp community. Amidst that, the broader Baltic region is emerging as a vibrant hub for responsible business. Neighbouring Latvia and Estonia have seen a rise in companies exploring certification, such as Woola, and international firms like Danone Baltics are adding further credibility to the region's commitment.
Events such as the Nordic-Baltic Sustainability Summit and forums hosted by chambers of commerce have further amplified interest, drawing attention from companies looking to align with global sustainability benchmarks.
“It’s been truly inspirational to see more and more committed companies in the Baltics showing that business can — and should — be a force for good. By leading through example, they are paving the way for others, and we look forward to driving this change together.” Sarah Garcia, Head of Markets Development at B Lab Europe
Sustainable business: from trend to norm
The momentum around B Corp Certification underscores a deeper transformation, where sustainability is no longer a niche pursuit but a business imperative.
In an era marked by climate urgency, social inequity, and economic uncertainty, companies like Baltic Assist exemplify a new kind of leadership: one that recognises profit and purpose not as opposites, but as partners.
As the Baltics take their place on the B Corp map, Baltic Assist's story offers a compelling blueprint for others to follow, proof that even in a fast-paced, efficiency-driven world, business can, and must, be a force for good.
