The Latvian technology and innovation company Tet has presented its future development vision – to become the leading provider of digital security, cloud services, and artificial intelligence solutions in the Baltics by 2030. This ambition is based on strong infrastructure, international competitiveness, and sustainable investments that foster not only the growth of Latvia's digital economy and public safety but also extend beyond the country’s borders.
Tet CEO Uldis Tatarčuks notes: “Tet is the digital heart of Latvia, beating with values, responsibility, and the desire to help. We combine humanity with technology to create solutions that are alive and people-friendly. Our goal – to become the digital innovation and security leader in the Baltics by 2030 – is not just an ambition, but a real step based on our knowledge and experience.”
Minister of Economics in Latvia Viktors Valainis emphasized: “The foundation of Latvia’s digital innovation lies in our technology companies, which create competitive solutions and strengthen the national economy by making it more innovative. Companies like Tet demonstrate that Latvia’s technology sector can combine innovation, quality, and reliability, providing a significant contribution both to society and the economy.”
Data center and cloud service growth
Tet currently provides the largest data center infrastructure in Latvia with six data centers. Already, 62% of Tet’s data center services are exported, proving the company’s competitiveness in international markets. In Latvia, Tet maintains strong positions with a 41% market share and steady growth – averaging 15% annually.
The latest project – DC7 data center in Salaspils – is a 30 million euros investment project featuring the most advanced energy efficiency solutions and heat reuse in cooperation with company “Salaspils Siltums”. The data center infrastructure is the foundation for cloud services, artificial intelligence solutions, and cybersecurity, simultaneously increasing Latvia’s export capacity.
The most resilient data ecosystem in the Baltics
Tet ensures that Latvia remains an integral part of Europe, not a remote point that may be cut off from communications during a crisis. “Our goal by 2030 is to maintain our position as the most resilient network in Latvia, capable of withstanding any external threat, including in hybrid warfare conditions,” emphasizes U. Tatarčuks.
To strengthen data connections with the Baltic states and increase the resilience of critical national infrastructure against external threats, Tet, in a consortium with Tallinn University of Technology and other partners in the Baltics, will ensure 5G coverage along the Via Baltica highway as part of the 5G Baltics project.
Cybersecurity and quantum technologies
Every day, Tet’s technology systems face an average of three DDoS attacks, and every two weeks – ransomware incidents demanding payments in cryptocurrency. To strengthen the cybersecurity of the state and private companies, Tet is working on creating a national quantum network that ensures the highest standards of data transmission security. Work is ongoing on building quantum communication infrastructure with the Baltic states, Poland, and Germany. In the future, such a security network will provide the necessary digital security for the financial, healthcare, telecommunications, and defense sectors.
Research and development as the driver of innovation
Over the past two years, Tet has increased its R&D capacity by 300%, actively engaging in European Union programs and attracting international projects. This growth opens opportunities to develop innovative technology solutions in Latvia with global demand.
Artificial intelligence in human-friendly solutions
Tet has developed a secure and business-adaptable artificial intelligence (AI) model based on a Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) solution, used both for the company’s internal needs and offered to other companies as a service. This AI solution can understand and analyze text, adapt to specific businesses, and improve their efficiency. Tet is currently developing a pilot program in healthcare that can help doctors optimize diagnosis code input, reduce the risk of errors, and facilitate patient care. Additionally, speech recognition, automatic subtitling, and conversation transcription solutions are being implemented.
Contribution to society and culture
The company continues to invest in society and support SOS Children’s Villages, implements digital literacy projects such as the “Tet Digital Safety School” for preschool and elementary school children, and invests in domestic cinema development – the original series “Uninvited Guests” became the most-watched in Latvia in recent years, and Tet’s original content in 2024 received three “Lielais Kristaps” awards. Tet also supports professional athletes and cultural events, helping Latvia strengthen its place on the world map.
Sustainable development and green energy
Tet’s goal is to fully transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2030, reducing CO₂ emissions by at least 42%. This will allow technological growth to be combined with a responsible attitude toward the environment and achieving climate neutrality goals in Latvia.
By continuing to work on projects and pursuing major goals, Tet not only strengthens its position in the Latvian and Baltic markets, but also convincingly stands among international technology leaders. The company’s ambition to become a technology leader by 2030 is closely linked to responsible innovation, sustainable development, and investments in society’s future, making Latvia an important digital hub on the Baltic and European map.
