Tele2 introduces VoWiFi to ensure voice services

RIGA - Tele2 mobile operator has introduced VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) that will endure better quality voice services indoors, LETA learned from the company.

Tele2 technical director Liga Krumina said that this technology will be useful indoors, for example, in large logistics centers, basements and buildings where there are physical obstacles for the mobile communication signals.

The technology now is being tested and will be available to commercial use during this year.

Tele2 has invested several millions of euros in the new VoLTE and VoWiFi technologies.

As reported, Latvia's Tele2 mobile operator posted EUR 165.803 million in audited turnover for 2022, which is an increase of 8.9 percent against a year before, while the company's profit rose 3.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 33.106 million, according to information available at Firmas.lv.

The company was registered in November 1995, its share capital is EUR 3.486 million. The sole owner of Tele2 is Sweden's Tele2 Sverige.
