RIGA - Teachers' pay rise schedule will be drawn up by February 1, Education and Science Minister Anda Caksa (New Unity) said while meeting with the Trade Union of Education and Science Employees (LIZDA).
Caksa had invited the union's representatives for a meeting on Thursday, December 29, to discuss current issues and priorities of the education sector.
The necessity to update the current education financing model was the first topic addressed at the meeting.
The minister and LIZDA representatives agreed that reforms must ensure equally high-quality education in all Latvia and higher remuneration for teachers. It was decided to continue work in these areas, considering various models, including Estonian and Lithuanian experience.
